LOS ANGELES, May 27, 2003 – Today, everse corporation (everse), a technology consulting, software development, and application outsourcing company, announced that CEO James Sung was named 2003 Asian Entrepreneur of the Year in the High Technology category at the 9th National Asian Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

The National Asian Entrepreneur of the Year Awards is an annual competition–based award program that seeks out and recognizes outstanding Asian Americans in business. The competition is open to for–profit, Asian American–owned firms that have been in operation for at least three consecutive years. Nominees are judged by an independent panel of enterprise experts.

The only awards program of its kind in the nation, the National Asian Entrepreneur of the Year Awards are given in five categories: High Technology, Hospitality, Manufacturing/Construction/A&E, Services/Wholesale/Retail, and Companies with less than 50 Employees. The nominees in all categories were judged on company history and obstacles overcome, current status and success, standing relative to other similar businesses, and relationships with Asian and broader communities and employees, among other criteria.

Co–sponsored by Asian Business Ventures, Inc. (publisher of Asian Enterprise magazine), Citibank, and Wells Fargo Bank, the 9th National Asian Entrepreneur of the Year Awards were presented on Friday, May 23, 2003, at the US Grant Hotel in San Diego, California. Awards were also presented to five Asian American Advocates and the Top Ten Best Companies for Asian Pacific Americans. Recipients of awards ranged from former Vice President Al Gore to representatives of SBC Communications, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Union Bank of California.

“I am honored to have been chosen as the recipient of this award,“ said Sung. “My ultimate goal for everse has always been to build a company defined by the character of its team, its commitment to its values, and the strength and vitality of its culture. To me, this award is testament to everse’s dedication to those ideals.“
